Installation precautions for hydraulic cylinders and how to properly maintain and care for them?

I. Installation Precautions for Hydraulic Cylinders 1. The hydraulic cylinder and its surroundings should be clean. The oil tank must be sealed to prevent contamination. Pipelines and oil tanks should be cleaned to prevent the presence of loose iron oxide scale and other debris. Cleaning should be done with lint-free cloth or special paper. Hemp yarn and adhesives cannot be used as sealing materials. Hydraulic oil should be used according to design requirements, paying attention to changes in oil temperature and pressure. When unloaded, open the bleed screw to vent. 2. There should be no looseness in the piping connections. 3. The base of the hydraulic cylinder must have sufficient rigidity; otherwise, when pressurized, the cylinder barrel will bow upwards, causing the piston rod to bend.

I. Hydraulic Cylinder Installation Precautions

1. The hydraulic cylinder and its surrounding environment should be clean. The oil tank must be sealed to prevent contamination. The pipelines and oil tank should be cleaned to prevent the shedding of iron oxide scale and other debris. Cleaning should be done with lint-free cloth or special paper. Do not use hemp thread or adhesive as sealing materials. Hydraulic oil should be used according to design requirements, paying attention to changes in oil temperature and pressure. When unloaded, open the bleed screw to vent air.

2. There should be no looseness in the pipe connections.

3. The base of the hydraulic cylinder must have sufficient rigidity; otherwise, when pressurized, the cylinder barrel will bow upwards, causing the piston rod to bend.

4. Before installing the hydraulic cylinder into the system, the parameters on the hydraulic cylinder nameplate should be compared with the parameters at the time of ordering.

5. For foot-mounted mobile cylinders, the center axis should be concentric with the center line of the load acting force to avoid causing lateral forces. Lateral forces easily cause wear and tear on the seals and damage to the piston. When installing the hydraulic cylinder for moving objects, keep the cylinder and the moving object parallel in the direction of movement on the guide rail surface. The parallelism is generally no more than 0.05 mm/m.

6. When installing the sealing cover screws of the hydraulic cylinder body, the tightening degree should ensure that the piston moves flexibly throughout its stroke without any obstruction or unevenness. Over-tightening the screws will increase resistance and accelerate wear; loosening them will cause oil leakage.

7. For hydraulic cylinders with bleed valves or bleed plugs, the bleed valve or bleed plug must be installed at the highest point to facilitate air removal.

8. The axial ends of the cylinder cannot be fixed rigidly, and one end must remain floating to prevent the influence of thermal expansion. Due to the action of internal hydraulic pressure and thermal expansion, there is axial expansion and contraction. If both ends of the cylinder are fixed rigidly, it will cause deformation of various parts of the cylinder.

9. The clearance between the guide bushing and the piston rod must meet the requirements.

10. Pay attention to the parallelism and straightness of the cylinder and the guide rail; the deviation should be within 0.1 mm/full length. If the full length of the mother line on the hydraulic cylinder exceeds the tolerance, the base surface of the hydraulic cylinder bracket or the contact surface of the machine tool should be scraped to meet the requirements; if the side mother line exceeds the tolerance, the hydraulic cylinder and fixing screws can be loosened, the positioning lock can be removed, and the accuracy of the side mother line can be corrected.

11. When disassembling and assembling the hydraulic cylinder, be careful not to damage the threads at the top of the piston rod, the cylinder mouth threads, and the surface of the piston rod. Do not use a hammer to hit the cylinder barrel and piston surface. If the cylinder bore and piston surface are damaged, do not use sandpaper to polish them; use a fine oil stone to carefully grind them.1.

II. Correct Maintenance and Care

First, the hydraulic oil should be changed regularly during the use of the cylinder, and the system filter screen should be cleaned to ensure cleanliness and extend the service life.

Second, each time the cylinder is used, a trial run of full extension and full retraction for 5 strokes should be carried out before load operation. Why do this? This can exhaust the air in the system, preheat the various systems, and effectively avoid the presence of air or water in the system, causing gas explosion (or scorching) in the cylinder body, which will damage the seals and cause internal leakage of the cylinder.

Third, control the system temperature. Excessive oil temperature will reduce the service life of the seals. Long-term high oil temperature will cause permanent deformation of the seals, or even complete failure.

Fourth, protect the outer surface of the piston rod to prevent bumps and scratches from damaging the seals. Regularly clean the dust seal area of the cylinder dynamic seal and the exposed piston rod to prevent dirt that is difficult to clean from entering the cylinder and damaging the piston, cylinder barrel, or seals.

Fifth, regularly check the various threaded connections, bolts, etc., and tighten them immediately if they are found to be loose.

Sixth, regularly lubricate the connecting parts to prevent rust or abnormal wear in the absence of oil.
